Lincoln is about to become
part of a growing network of communities in New Zealand with its own
community garden. The Lincoln Community Garden is an undertaking of
the Lincoln Envirotown Trust. The Lincoln Community Sustainability
Action Plan, developed by our community in 2007, included the establishment
of a community garden in Lincoln, and work has been going on behind
the scenes for some time. Recently
the Trust employed a Community Garden Coordinator, Cello Robertson,
and has secured a site for the gardens in the Lincoln Maternity
Hospital grounds. We are very grateful to the CDHB for allowing
us to use this site for the benefit of the community and to the
Selwyn District Council for their support.

Our aims are to:
Grow and share food cooperatively as a community.
Provide recreation, therapy and educational opportunities for local
people as well as open space to reconnect with the environment.
Encourage people to become enthusiastic about growing their own
food, whether in the community garden or their own garden.
You don’t need to know any thing about gardening to be involved!
We are here to help.
